WACKER POLYMERS is the global technology leader in the development and production of redispersible powders, dispersions solid resins, powder binders and surface coating resins.
At our Allentown site, we are currently looking for a Lab Technician - Coatings to be a part of our growing team.

 

 

Purpose

The Lab Technician - Coatings will support the Polymers Coatings business in the NCA region by preparing and testing paints as part of the Coatings applications development and technical service team.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages workload of multiple projects with limited supervision.
  • Prepares coatings formulations and tests them via ASTM or MPI standards.  Relies on own creativity and insight to develop new testing methods and identify unforeseen issues in technical projects.
  • Documents and communicates results.
  • Follows all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean lab and equipment at all times; ensures required maintenance on equipment is completed when necessary.

 

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years laboratory experience with High School Diploma or 0 to 3 years laboratory experience with Associates or Bachelor's Degree in science. 
  • Coatings experience preferred
  • General laboratory safety and operational skills
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs 
  • Experience with laboratory equipment such as mixers, pH meters, KU/ICI viscometers a plus
  • Experience with formulating and application testing of coatings preferred
  • Independently manages time and project workload
  • Ability to understand and conduct standardized tests in a laboratory environment. 
  • Technical aptitude and creativity
  • Ability to run basic application tests.
