WACKER POLYMERS is the global technology leader in the development and production of redispersible powders, dispersions solid resins, powder binders and surface coating resins. At our Allentown site, we are currently looking for a  Director, Human Resources to join our growing team.

 

The Director, Human Resources, Polymers, will work in conjunction with the Polymers leadership team to support the Allentown, PA and Calvert City, KY locations. This is a highly visible full generalist position. This position supports Wacker Polymers Division as a business partner and  oversee all employee/labor relations activities fostering a climate of positive employee relations.

 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Strategy

  • Work as a Business Partner with the Polymers leadership team and ensure active participation in staff meetings
  • Guide and oversee the HR Manager in Calvert City, KY and build a strong working relationship with the Union leadership in Calvert City 
  • Work with centers of excellence to implement strategy for the following key areas:  talent acquisition and management, leadership development, employee relations, rewards and recognition, change management and operational excellence
  • Assists in the continued profitable growth of Wacker Polymers by participating in the planning process for the organization
  • Work closely with peers to ensure strategies and policies are aligned and consistently applied

 

Talent Acquisition, Management and Development

  • Work collaboratively to identify and implement the best strategies, processes and services to attract, develop, motivate and retain the best talent
  • In conjunction with Director, Talent Management and Development, direct talent management, talent assessment, career development and succession planning processes throughout the business
  • Assist in driving the Diversity strategy
  • Manage Affirmative Action Plan & compliance

 

Employee and Leadership Development

  • Work collaboratively with Director, Talent Management and Development and business group leaders to conduct comprehensive training and development .This will include a range of initiatives, including, but not limited to leadership development, 360-degree assessments, career development plans, leadership training, technical skill development, etc. 
  • Actively coach and provide guidance to managers and team members within the organization

 

Employee Relations and Employee Engagement

  • Promote positive work environment through compliance with Wacker standards and ensuring fair and consistent administration of policies and practices
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state legislation
  • Support development and launch of effective communications programs
  • Ensure positive working relationships with the union and at all levels of the organization
  • Drive retention and reward and recognition initiatives throughout division

                         

Change Management

  • Contribute to organizational change management initiatives through planning and execution
  • Ensure open and timely communication

 

Safety/Worker Compensation

  • Work with Manager, Safety to ensure that we provide a safe work environment for employees
  • Work collaboratively to implement safety programs and initiatives, and audit results

 

Qualifications

 

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Management, Business or related field required
  • Masters degree in Human Resources Management, Business or related field, preferred
  • Minimum 10 years in the Human Resources field in a generalist function.
  • Leadership experience in a manufacturing organization
  • Experience supporting multiple locations
  • Union experience including; grievance handling, arbitrations and contract negotiations

  • Strong credibility and professional competence with management team and operations management
  • Effective facilitation, teambuilding, negotiation and networking skills
  • Strong internal customer-focus
  • Ability to travel between locations, as needed
  • Competent in use of Microsoft Office
