What you will do:
The Chemist will support the Business Teams and Operations facility through hands on lab support of analytical methods for dispersions, as well as support product development objectives of the Research & Development team by the analytical characterization of experimental samples and prototype products. This role will also maintain analytical procedures and equipment, and audit analytical processes and programs of the Operations facility.
- Maintain analytical databases
- Provide analytical support to customers.
- Collaborate with other chemists on product trouble shooting at the plant scale
- Maintain the quality and operability of all existing products in the Dispersions Business Team’s portfolio and provide support to initiate product introduction.
- Set up and implement analytical techniques new to Research & Development, such as HPLC analysis of dispersions for formaldehyde and CHDF particle size analysis of dispersions.
- Improve existing analytical techniques, as necessary. Communicate technical results in presentations and reports, as necessary.
- Participate in all safety processes at the lab and plant scale.
- Establish and implement safe work practices to insure safe operation of technology assets.
What we need from you:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or other science field
- 3+ years related work experience
- Knowledge of the technical elements of the dispersion business is desirable and includes product technologies as well as process and manufacturing capabilities.
- Knowledge of analytical chemistry in general and as it specifically relates to polymer chemistry and polymer dispersions is needed.
- Hands on laboratory skills, specifically with analytical instruments and analytical techniques is critical.
- Functional knowledge of SAP, as it relates to product introduction and quality is desired.
- Familiarity with all manufacturing capabilities and limitations is desired.
- Knowledge of lab safety standards and practices is necessary.
- The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals, both on the technical side as well as the commercial side, is necessary.
- Excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills are required.
- Ability to travel. Less than 10% of time.
