WACKER POLYMERS is the global technology leader in the development and production of redispersible powders, dispersions solid resins, powder binders and surface coating resins.
At our Allentown site, we are currently looking for a Business Development Chemist to be a part of our growing team.



Job Responsibilities


Develop thorough technical understanding of Wacker Polymer product offerings being supplied into existing construction applications, including formulation know-how and testing requirements.  Directly engage with Wacker sales team, customers, prospects, and external trade organizations to drive sales growth in the North American Region (US & Canada).  Focus construction areas include asphalt emulsion modification, cementitious based systems, and more generally CASE applications.  


Work with Commercial Business Development Team to identify new areas for product and/or application development in the construction space.  Work externally with customers and prospects to understand market trends and drivers, as well as unmet needs.  Design and conduct lab experiments to prove out Wacker Polymers’ value proposition with support of lab technicians


Work with R&D synthesis team to design and evaluate new chemistries for construction applications


Work closely with partner companies and key raw material suppliers to advance the development of formulas, products, or processes. 


Job Qualifications


  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related technical field
  • 5+ years' experience in an application/product development role within construction industry (asphalt experience preferred)
  • 5+ years' experience providing technical service and support directly to end user
  • 5+ years' experience with polymer chemistry
  • Time management, project management, and communication skills
  • Basic influential and leadership skills with the ability to lead by example
  • Able to understand and follow standardized tests in a laboratory environment, and provide direction to team of technicians
