At our Adrian site, we are currently looking for a(n) Technical Manager I/II Organofunctional Silanes to join our growing team.


This Technical Manager will provide the expanding support for Organofunctional silanes (OFS) business where the NCA is a focus region by extending the technical support to our customers. This position will provide technical and local project support to all the NCA business involved in the various OFS markets, developing the product portfolio and be the key contact for suppliers, customers, sales managers and BT labs. This position will qualify new products, develop internal training and external technical marketing information. Creation of external technical information (SDS, TDS)

Job Responsibilities

  • Regional technical support and development for the Organofunctional silanes (OFS) product range; drives development of technology roadmaps and product portfolios that positions Wacker to be a leading player in OFS.
  • Evaluating new products and supporting the entire supply channel of these materials for both internal consumption and merchant markets.
  • Supports the Business Teams by providing technical market development, with the training of sales managers and providing technical service support within the region.
  • Develops and manages Wacker Academy events relating to OFS.
  • Visits customers to support sales with the discovery process and presenting results.
  • Manages projects plans, reports and contributes to white papers and makes internal and external presentations.  
  • Accountable for all aspects of safely operating a technical area.  
  • Gathers and analyzes relevant performance data of own and competitive products; evaluates and resolves technical topics.  
  • Maintain Chemist of Record responsibilities for a portfolio of products including development of TDS and SDS documents.
  • Manage the exchange of information and activities using best practice which includes but not limited to Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN), SAP, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Document project and product modification activities using stage gate process and Opportunity Management within the customer relationship tool (SalesForce).
  • Develop intellectual property related to new products and / or applications, drive for related patent filings.



  • M.S. or PhD Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or closely related field
  • 10 years minimum years of experience
  • Experience in the production and application of organofunctional silanes
  • Experience in the implementation of all safety requirements and lab organization in a formulating chemistry and application testing laboratory setting.
  • Technical marketing and providing technical service at customers
  • Working within the requirements of an Integrated Management System
  • Good knowledge of organosilicon chemistry esp. organofunctional silanes
  • Ability to working within a global team and across disciplines
  • High level communication skills (verbal and written) - written skills demonstrated by technical publications, industry presentations and/or patents
  • Ability to train other non-technical team members throughout the region and across teams
  • Ability to support value propositions with supporting technical data
