At our Adrian site, we are currently looking for a ​Safety Lead Adrian Operations​ to be a part of our growing team.



This position is responsible for the Site Safety Lead role at the ADR site achieving established targets, objectives, and promoting a culture where safety is a value.   Strong focus upon team engagement and each individual’s safety ownership.  Position will be staffed at the WACKER Adrian, MI location.


Job Responsibilities

  • The position will coordinate, develop, implement, and maintain an effective safety culture and site support service level, with focus upon people, policy, programs, and procedures.
  • Lead, educate, engage, and energize union safety representatives and the management team.
  • Evaluate hazards of processes and recommend actions that can be used to reduce such hazards.
  • Provide monthly reports that are collected, organized, and communicated.
  • To assist in the communication of information regarding changes in hazards or regulatory requirements to management, employees and customers as needed, and to provide any requested support to business initiatives.
  • Conduct and participate with internal and external audits/inspections of the site.  Create reports that incorporate executive summary and spreadsheet results.  Clearly communicate findings and necessary corrective actions with appropriate personnel, and complete action items timely.
  • Support Process Safety Management aspects related to the 14 elements, with emphasis upon, MOC, PSSR, II, EPR, HW, Contractors, and EP.
  • Effectively incorporate MIOSHA regulations within site operations.
  • Ensure site emergency readiness is fulfilled working closely with Site Management and Security.
  • Required to respond to the site whenever needed, with potential for daytime, afternoon, midnight, or weekend responses


Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years of  relevant professional experience within a safety function, including supervisory capabilities. Ability to associate and have meaningful discussion with employees at the site for an effective safety culture.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, accident investigations, hazard analysis/risk assessment, and manufacturing processes.
  • Multi-tasking competency and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with
    continual interruptions
  • Ability to research information without direct supervision is expected.
  • Intermediate/Advanced computer skills with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Willingness and ability to learn new tasks and tools (SAP, SPIRIT, WACKER Intranet, Business Warehouse
    Enterprise Buyer, WACKER specific IT tools, etc.)
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written)
