At our Adrian site, we are currently looking for a ​Operations Project Engineer​ to be a part of our growing team.



This position provides site project engineering and project management services related to projects at Wacker Silicone sites within the North American region throughout all project phases from front end-loading engineering through detail engineering, construction, commissioning and turn-over to Operations in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations as well as Wacker’s internal policies and procedures. This position requires working in a multi-discipline team with multiple interfaces to internal customers, internal services such as procurement and regulatory affairs, as well as external supplies and contractors. This position requires domestic and international travel dependent on project assignment, most travel will be to Silicone locations.


Job Responsibilities

  • The overall engineering and project management: process-/ system planning, design, specification, calculation; cost estimates, expenditure planning; project appropriation request; scheduling; safety, quality and regulator review; subcontracting, procurement; construction management; commissioning support, plant handover, performance test; acceptance, rejection handling; coordinate 3rd party contractors and supplies involved in the project; monitor project progress and compile project reports
  • Processing and implementation of legal, economic, safety, and environmental related matters
  • Development of project scope and execution approach
  • Civil/Structural/Architectural design and engineering which may also include building HVAC, fire-protection/alarm
  • Permitting for authority having jurisdiction (AHJ)
  • Coordination interfaces to other disciplines involved in the project
  • Manage changes ins cope and/or priorities during project execution
  • Applying best practices  related to project management, engineering, and construction
  • Utilize value engineering practices
  • Compile and provide project as-built documentation
  • Represent Wacker’s interests towards authorities, supplies and contractors
  • Cooperate with groups and individuals within the Engineering & Maintenance department, Operations and other service units with focus on achieving optimal results/solutions from a corporate enterprise perspective.
  • Perform all tasks and assignments in accordance with Wacker’s policies and procedures
  • Support availability of infrastructure facilities and mechanical systems and equipment at required capacity and quality
  • Coordinate and manage the activities of the Management of Change (MOC) process
  • Participate in commissioning of new and modified systems
  • Support maintenance team in planning and execution of ITPM and MRO activities
  • Become an expert capable of exercising engineering judgement with respect to the area of responsibility and assigned subject matter expert functions
  • Supervise third party providers for engineering and maintenance services
  • Plan and execute small size investment projects
  • Conduct and coordinate debottlenecking and troubleshooting activities
  • Support procedure, process, and technology transfer and exchange between Wacker production sites.
  • Drive and support continuous improvement activities related to safety, quality, and cost.
  • Keep documentation and equipment records up to date.


Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering  (Mechanical or Chemical)
  • Three to Five years of operations focused engineering experience
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, relevant codes, and construction practices to effectively manage projects and to apply efficient and innovative solutions to technical and organizational challenges
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of construction procedures, construction technologies, safe work practices, construction/installation quality and dependencies of various trades and disciplines working on a project to efficiently coordinate contractors to achieve project goals and maintain a safe job site
  • Strong Civil Structural & Architectural engineering knowledge
  • Strong construction/installation related skills; Strong construction management & construction-site organization skills
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills, coordination & leadership shills
  • Extensive knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering including relevant regulations, standards, and codes such as ASME, API, NFPA, ANSI, etc.
  • Leadership skills combined with team player attitude.
  • Must be able to work in the US without current or future Visa support
