
The onsite Health and Safety Specialist at the Wacker Adrian site will promote a culture where "Safety is a Precondition" for all activities and will help achieve established targets and objectives. The Health and Safety Specialist will prioritize team engagement and encourage individual safety ownership.
Position Responsibilities
- Conduct physical site inspections and track compliance
- Handle reporting & documentation
- Administer System Operations
- Track metrics for incident trends
- Conduct annual Group Health and Safety assessments
- Co-Manage site health and safety policies and procedures (e.g. Powered Industrial Truck, Confined Space Entry, Hazard Communications, Personal Protective Equipment, etc.)
- Serve as Incident Management System Coordinator (enter events and audit or assessments, track progress, resolve entries, etc.)
- Evaluate process hazards and recommend actions to reduce or eliminate them using the hierarchy of controls
- Conduct Industrial Hygiene Sampling as needed
- Manage SDS revisions in the SDS system
- Conduct and participate with internal and external audits/inspections
- Effectively integrate regulations within site operations
- Participate in various meetings with union representatives and site management
- Conduct Ergonomic assessments and manage risks using a prioritization matrix
- Create/Update Training content and provide it to employees
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in a technical field, (EHS or Chemical Engineering preferred) OR High School Diploma
- 3-5 years of experience with Bachelor degree
- 7+ years of experience with high school diploma
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, incident investigations, hazard analysis/risk assessment
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Willingness and ability to learn new tasks and tools
- Intermediate/Advanced computer skills with MS Office Tools
- Effective communication skills, oral and written
- PPE program experience preferred
