At our site in Adrian, we are currently looking for a ​Customs & Trade Compliance Manager​ to join our growing team.

 

Job Responsibilities

This position is responsible to ensure WCC/WPNA is compliant and adheres to all US export control laws and regulations and support Leadership with state and government regulations.

Export Control- Management of execution of export control process

  • Gathering Export Control information independently regarding Export Control law and amendments and forwarding to relevant colleagues
  • Ensuring that all relevant employees have a valid training qualification according Export Control training concept (available GLOBE page Export Control)
  • Managing ongoing reviews and audits
  • Management of reporting and single point of contact to authorities like B.I.S. or OFAC, ensuring that preconditions set by authorities are fulfilled
  • Ensuring that product classification (for WACKER products as well as non-production material) is performed in case of export or shipment
  • Responsibility for sanctions list screening process USA
  • Provides direction and expertise on the implementation of cost-effective solutions required by the company.
  • Lead and mentor team members, develop talent and bench strength. Ensure work quality meets all WCC requirements for content and accuracy.
  • Reviews and evaluates work to ensure quality, timeliness and ensures quality control in adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Develops and ensures implementation of policies and procedures regarding all things related to Trade Compliance.

Export Control- Management of and close cooperation with WGER Export Compliance Manager, WGER Corporate Coordinator, WCC/WPNA Supply Chain/ site logistics and WCC Corporate Logistics Import/Export team

  • Managing production of quarterly WCC/WPNA Export Control reporting to WGER Export Compliance Manager
  • Monitoring and reporting to WCC Exec mgmt. as well as to WGER Export Compliance Manager in case of a non-compliance
  • Recommends/informs/alerts WCC/WPNA BD SC teams and site logistics if certain orders/shipments should be blocked until Export Compliance is guaranteed
  • Providing periodic reviews with BD SC teams, site logistics, and Corporate Logistics Import/Export teams on Export Control regulations/laws

Customs Compliance- international coordinator: coordinate all functions mentioned below and help build/ support a communication platform called International Customs Committee

  • Securing and coordinating adequate processes and procedures that support safe, consistent and efficient compliance with relevant and applicable law as well as good governance in the respective area, by the following
  • Ensuring an appropriate record keeping system
  • Supporting, advising and managing interpretation of relevant and applicable group-wide international, supra-national and national law and relevant amendments thereof,
  • Managing and monitoring operational errors and irregularities
  • Providing and reporting, objectives and control KPI's
  • Support reviews and audits
  • Support training for expert functions and affected employees
  • Supporting collaboration formats e.g. exchange of experience, best practices / benchmarks
  • Supporting standardized processes, tools and systems
  • Supporting consistent implementation of corporate decisions
  • Ensuring an open and trusting relationship, with the team members of Wacker companies

Customs Compliance

  • The regional responsible person will be appointed as a permanent member of the International Customs Committee (ICC), once established. The Customs & Trade Compliance Manager will manage the regional requirements to build up a central German database to ensure that all WCC/WPNA SC teams, site logistics and Corporate Logistics import/export teams receive up-to-date data related to customs activities to establish an analysis and a risk assessment and risk management approach for processes and procedures.
  • Government Relations Support: from time-to-time, or as needed, the Customs &Trade Compliance Manager will support WCC’s Sr. Management in projects/assignments involving local/state government relations.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain or related field required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum seven years of experience in a similar role required.
  • CTPAT Security Compliance - Knowledge of CTPAT Best Practices, Threat Awareness and Minimum-Security Criteria Import Entry experience required.
  • Customs, Import & Export Logistics Regulatory Compliance - Knowledge of CBP Regulations i.e., 19 CFR, USMCA, Import and Export Compliance, knowledge and experience in Foreign Trade Zones, the HTSUS, etc., SAP experience required.
  • Specialized Logistics Projects - international freight forwarding & logistics, intermodal transportation, warehousing, seaports, supply chain mapping and ocean and airfreight, logistics studies experience required.
  • Government Affairs - Experience in networking with government officials reading and interpreting Federal, State and local laws, statutes and directives
  • Computer proficiency including spreadsheet software, SAP, Business Warehouse.
  • Critical thinking and time management skills.
  • Prior management experience
