WACKER SILICONES is one of the world’s biggest silicone manufacturers with silicone-based system solutions and over 3,000 different products. At our Adrian site, we are currently looking for a Chemist - Silicone Construction Chemicals to join our growing team.

Job Responsibilities:

This position is responsible to support the growth in construction sealer, admix and cement-based applications including commercial and DIY market segments.  Application developments and technical support will include the protection of cementitious based substrates with topical or integrally applied products. 

 

  • Drive development of innovative silicone-based solutions that meet customer and market needs through standardized and/or in-house developed testing methods.  
  • Use blends of emulsified silane and/or siloxane-based systems.  Or the use of current WACKER products in existing or new application areas to meet internal/external customer needs
  • Ability to carefully design experiments, analyze results, support the creation of compelling value propositions, create presentations to support and educate customers efficiently and effectively.  
  • Provide classroom type trainings to supporting teams and customers.
  • Provide daily technical support to our sales and marketing team, and to the discovery and problem-solving processes at our customers and/or in production of the materials.  
  • Efficient daily up keep of data entry, equipment and labs in a proactive safe and compliant manner
  • Build extensive network with customers at conferences and meetings

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymers, Material Science or related field 
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience developing and testing formulations to be evaluated through industry standard testing  protocols in the concrete industry.
  • Working knowledge of silicone chemistry, and emulsion technology preferred but not required
  • Ability to work independently with good time and project management skills.  
  • Able to be organized to execute multiple projects in parallel
  • Self-motivated/ Self-Starter/Team Player 
  • Strong Communication Skills - written and verbal 
  • Computer skills (eg. SAP, Microsoft Office, Minitab, etc.)
  • Must be enthusiastic & energetic for their areas of application and a positive influence within a team
  • Wiling to travel up to~20%
